About De Profundis, Inc.
Our Mission
Inspired by Psalm 130 (De Profundis) "Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord." We support young men discerning vocations to the Roman Catholic priesthood. Through financial aid, spiritual accompaniment, retreats, and formation, we help them deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, grow in prayer, and hear God’s call with trust in His mercy. Rooted in the sacraments and fidelity to the Church, we stand ready to empower generous responses to the priesthood.
Offered twice each year—summer and winter—the program, founded by Fr. Scott Woods, invites participants to live alongside priests in a shared rhythm of prayer, fraternity, and service to the People of God. This is more than a retreat; it is an immersion in real parish life, with Christ at the center.
The Fruit of De Profundis
Since its founding:
- More than 50 young men have participated.
- More than 25 have entered seminary or religious life.
- 3 participants ordained priests.
Every participant has testified that De Profundis has profoundly strengthened his relationship with Christ and His Church.
A Day in the Life
Participants share fully in the daily life of a
priest:
• Daily Mass
• Liturgy of the Hours
• Daily Holy Hour
• Common meals and fraternity
In addition, they accompany priests in pastoral ministry:
• Visiting the sick and homebound
• Ministry in homes, hospitals, and nursing facilities
•Youth and young adult ministry
• Parish outreach and service
• Young men grow in prayer, brotherhood, and missionary discipleship.
Support the Mission
De Profundis depends entirely on donor generosity.
Your support provides:
• All meals for participants
• Housing (provided by parish families)
• Participant stipends
• Summer stipend: $3,000
• Winter stipend: varies
• Ministry and program expenses
